A quick note added to the fixtures page to confirm when matches may be rearranged.

BIG congratulations to Nathan and his wife Laura on the birth of their daughter Chloe Bernadette. :)

Just a quick note to let everybody know we have 2 courts available for club on Tuesday 8th December. C’mon down!

We won, We won 7-2. Some really good games. Only losing 2 to their 1st pair.

If their 2nd pair weren’t feeling old enough after Jordan and Darius had played them, Jordan certainly sent them into mid-life crisis with a cutting remark about their ability to keep the right score being impaired by their age. Luckily no blood spilt though…this time. No doubt they are still in the pub recounting the story.

Luckily, although the oldest of our team tonight, I am a few years younger than the gent who got the tongue lash. Note to self- if ever I am to play AGAINST Jordan: Must remember course of intensive night moisturiser/Botox! S

Well – lost tonight v Penarth 7-2 ouch. Darius, Barry and Alison helped us out and there were really close games. Martin and I taking 1 – probably played better both having bad colds than the week before! Jordan didn’t have the “much older” man behind her but Barry played well and they took one. Don’t think we’ll be winning any league with our list of injuries!! Perhaps a good rest over xmas is needed. NO Ski-ing or horse-riding until the season’s nearly over – o.k?

Forgot to mention we lost the Heath match 5-4. Young Rob (no longer little Rob) played with Rachel- less of an age gap for her! Not sure what Jordan did to Chris but he struggled valiantly with a “bardie” to maintain their winning ways. Martin and I took one-well mainly Martin as my recent squash seemed to mess up my game for ages (well-good excuse anyway!). As Martin pointed out – We seem able to beat the 2nd teams ok. Not sure why that is,

The Welsh International Badminton Tournament takes place from 26th – 29th November at the Welsh Institute of Sport, Sophia Gardens.

OK, last night was seen (so far) to be the match of the season. We fielded our full A team which made sure that we were ready for our division 1 encounter with last year’s champions, Nomads A… and wow the match did not disappoint the watching Vale faithful!

There were many 3 setters to prove that it was a highly competitive match. Vale pairings of Chris/Huw, Dave/Barry and Mart/Darius, triumphed in a well fought battle, each taking 2 well deserved rubbers to give us a 100% record of wins (so far) in our début for the Cardiff District Badminton League Division 1. A really exciting 6-3 win for Vale!

I would like to thank all the guys for playing, and we hope that all the members recover from their injuries, especially Chris, who has more than 2 calves – apparently ;-)

Sorry for this being both late and short. A good win away at Heath last Thursday. With Rob J and Nige’ both absent the big guns from Men’s C were brought into the fray and they didn’t disappoint. The pairings of Glyn and Matt, Allan and Rob C, Byron and Nathan all dropped games to a strong Heath 1st pair but that was it. Great win 6-3. BIG thanks to Al and Rob for stepping in.
