About Us
Vale Badminton Club was formed in the late 70s early 80s, and originally played from the Sports Centre Gymnasium at RAF St Athan. The club was soon established with a good membership, and was able to enter teams in Cardiff and Bridgend Badminton leagues in Ladies, Men’s and Mixed divisions.
As the years went by the Vale Badminton Club members won trophies in various leagues and divisions. We also had changes of venues and at one time played from the Bridgend Police Headquarter facilities. In more recent years we have been playing from the Vale Leisure Centre In Cowbridge.
Today, although the interest in badminton is in decline and the number of teams being represented in the Cardiff and Bridgend Leagues is lower than usual, Vale Badminton Club still has a good membership of over 30 members, and usually enters 3 Men’s, 1 Ladies and 2 Mixed teams into the Cardiff and District Badminton League.
A few of our members have been through a Junior Coaching Course. Some of these junior players have won events in the Junior Sections and have now progressed into the more senior stream to play alongside well established badminton players, and represent the club in the various divisions.
Vale Badminton Club also have a good Social events calendar, with Curry Nights, Sport Events with the local Bowls and Cricket clubs, Treasure Hunts and Quiz Nights.
Vale Badminton Club is always interested in taking on new members of a good standard who wish improve on their badminton skills or even play in the badminton leagues.
